The Portland Pickles, a collegiate summer baseball team based in Oregon, have made history by becoming the first sports team in the United States to sell THC products at their games. In a groundbreaking partnership with Cycling Frog, a renowned cannabis company, the Pickles are now offering hemp-derived THC seltzers at Walker Stadium.
Starting on June 18, 2024, fans attending Pickles’ home games can enjoy Cycling Frog’s THC Light Seltzer in two refreshing flavors: Passionfruit and Lemon. Each can contains 2 mg of THC and 4 mg of CBD, providing a mild and enjoyable experience for those over 21. This innovative move aligns with Oregon’s progressive cannabis laws, which allow for both medical and recreational use.
Ross Campbell, Vice President of Business Development for the Pickles, emphasized the team’s role in pioneering new partnerships within the sports industry. “We have a responsibility to take leaps and set precedents for innovative collaborations,” Campbell stated. This sentiment echoes the team’s 2019 milestone as the first sports team to partner with a CBD company, a trend that quickly spread to major leagues.
